Unite with me in the cancer fight and support my fundraising efforts

My connection with cancer is simple: cancer took my mother, Jeanne Elliott, when I was 7, and has tried (and failed) twice to take my wife, Tricia. It took my brother-in-law, and tried to take my uncle. It has taken my Livestrong team captain's wife, and has recently taken the wife of my account manager at work. I don't know anyone who hasn't been touched by cancer. And on that personal level where the Lance Armstrong Foundation can help.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation unites people to fight cancer, believing that unity is strength, knowledge is power, and attitude is everything. It helps people through the "cancer process," giving advice, support, and even helping you get financial aid.

I am part of "Team Fatty". Elden Nelson is a husband and father who created a blog several years ago (now at www.fatcyclist.com) to shame himself into losing weight. In addition to being a very funny guy, Fatty (as he is known, even though he isn't fat any more) has also shared the heart-wrenching details of his late wife Susan's battle with cancer. His family has benefited from the LAF, and in return Fatty has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the LAF. His dedication to this cause while still taking care of his wife and family has inspired me to try to help too.

Through the dollars and awareness that we raise, the LAF can inspire and empower individuals, and can make life better for the millions of people across the globe fighting cancer today.
